Hello All.
I'm just trying to open a URL that is a webpage in a cell via a keyboard shortcut.
Thing is,, I don't know the shortcut. :(

I have searched,, I just can't seem to see it.

I can open a hyperlink dialog box (CTRL + k)
I also saw something about Shift + F10,, but this did nothing in my excel.

I'm using excel 2010,
Example :
Cell D12 contains the (blue coloured hyperlink) www.JobShopUK.com
If I right click >Edit hyperlink> the URL Address is http://www.jobshopuk.com/

So,, if I use the arrow keys to navigate directly to cell D12,,, what shortcut keyboard command can I use to open the webpage in my default browser?

My sheet is protected,, but I can select this cell.

I even went to YouTube,, & searched "open url keyboard shortcut excel",, but couldn't see anything specific to my question.
& here;
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/excel-help/keyboard-shortcuts-in-excel-2010-HP010342494.aspx

Does anybody know the answer?
I'm all ears. :)

Many Thanks
JC

You can just do the following:

While having the cell active:

1- tap on the secondary click button (between windows and ctrl buttons)
2- hit letter O twice (Open hyperlink)
3- hit enter

I know it's kind of old school, but can be really fast and works just fine.
Hope this helped.

Excel Facts

How to find 2nd largest value in a column?
MAX finds the largest value. =LARGE(A:A,2) will find the second largest. =SMALL(A:A,3) will find the third smallest
Man,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I've just found out why!!!!!!!!!!

SNAGIT!!! (A screen capture program)

In the options of SnagIT,, I have selected (I think as STD SHIFT F10 for Video Capture Stop) !!!!

So,, I've changed this to Shift F11

Now,, in excel,, if I press Shift F10,, I get the right click context menu!!!!!!!!!!
:)

Only taken me 2 1/2 hrs to get it!!,,, find out why I didn't get the context menu in excel via keyboard shortcut :(

Hey ho,, now I can open URLs in active cell using keyboard only.
So,, be careful of other programs using the same keyboard Combos,, as it can make some of the excel keyboard shortcuts invalid!!

All the best
JC

I had the same problem with Snagit and thanks to this comment, found and changed that setting...

But "o" on the shortcut menu that shift-F10 opens is SORT. How do I get it to actually run the hyperlink I have in my spreadsheet?

Thanks.

Hi there, just one year per reply :p, just press the letter again and it will go straight to the other option available with the same letter.

For short:

in Excel Desktop:

Shift+F10
o
o
Enter

I've tested with hyperlinks inserted via Ctrl+k and Hyperlink Formulas.

In Excel Online (at this time 2017-Sep-28)
:

Shift+F10
Down Arrow
Down Arrow
Down Arrow
Down Arrow
Enter

Are you saying I need to do all this:
Shift+F10
Down Arrow
Down Arrow
Down Arrow
Down Arrow
Enter

To activate the link in the active cell.
It would be a lot easier to just click the Mouse in the cell.
