Goin' to the well again.

Does anyone know how to force the visibility of the cell contents when the contents tend to oversize the column width ?

Example - I want to assign a Date and Time to a cell, but I just want to have the date visible in the cell, while the full date and time is visible in the formula bar. When the cell is "overrun", ####### are the only thing that appear.

Thanx in advance.

Norie, Norie, Norie... I finally got it. Need to format the cell to a date, then enter the date and time information in the "right" date and time format and it works.

It looks like I entered in the incorrect date format in the past and it wasn't working..for instance I must have the space between the date and time and I must also have a space between the time and AM or PM. It also will not work if I have impossible values for time such as 12:34:89 or 5:68:06 - if I go outside of the minute or second realms Excel assumes something else.

Thanx again Norie.

Excel Facts

Workdays for a market open Mon, Wed, Friday?
Yes! Use "0101011" for the weekend argument in NETWORKDAYS.INTL or WORKDAY.INTL. The 7 digits start on Monday. 1 means it is a weekend.

No problem.:)

We probably should have thought of that.

If you entered a date/time in a format Excel didn't recognise it would probably regard it as text, so any formatting would not make a difference.
