Good morning,

I've searched everywhere, watched Youtube videos, and haven't had any luck finding what I need so I figured I would go to the experts of Mr. Excel to help me out! I have a pivot table in tabular format with all item labels repeating. I have 2 different rows and am trying to sort based on a value. I'm trying to sort based on the value, but it keeps grouping all of the rows and sorting within them. Here's an example of how it currently looks and how I want it to look:

Current State

Loc. Item Volume
ABC 123 5
ABC 456 8
ABC 789 10
DEF 123 2
DEF 456 4
DEF 789 7
GHI 123 1
GHI 456 3
GHI 789 9

Ideal State

Loc. Item Volume
GHI 123 1
DEF 123 2
GHI 456 3
DEF 456 4
ABC 123 5
DEF 789 7
ABC 456 8
GHI 789 9
ABC 789 10

Does that make sense? I can try uploading an image but hopefully that gives a good idea of what I'm looking for. Thanks in advance!

Excel Facts

Does the VLOOKUP table have to be sorted?
No! when you are using an exact match, the VLOOKUP table can be in any order. Best-selling items at the top is actually the best.
You cannot do that because it would break the groups that are a fundamental part of what pivot tables do. You would have to move the Item field to the left of the Loc field.
