Hi All,

Here's the problem.

I have a load of raw data that I am looking to produce a pivot table from. Within this raw data a have a column, which has named individuals in it, a column stating the value (in hours) of time they are spending on a given task (eg 0.5) and then 12 columns running Jan through to December which totals the amount of time spent on that task for each month.

As people will be doing multiple tasks and there for be named in the above raw data on more than one occasion I want to produce a pivot which has the list of named resource down the left and the months running across the top and the values against each resource being the total amount of time they have spent for that given month on all tasks.

Any ideas?

Waterfall charts in Excel?
Office 365 customers have access to Waterfall charts since late 2016. They were added to Excel 2019.
Okay, select the data and get into the pivot wizard.

In step 3 there's a button on the left, 'layout' - click this

Drag the header for names into the row area and the headers for each of the 12 months into the data area. you can alter the header labels by double clicking these and editing them, although you can use a label that already exists.

Once you've clicked okay, you might find the table is in 2 columns and not at all what you wanted.

Click and hold the shaded box that says 'data' and drag it to the cell next door, where it says 'total' This should make your data appear how you specified.
