Please Help: Lookup functions

Hi, I have looked everywhere and I cannot figure out how to do what I need to do. It may be simple, but please let me know if you can help. I have a drop down menu to select a type of transaction in Column A. In Column B i have an amount. On another work sheet I have an Income Statement. I need the amount in Column B to flow through to the Income Statement. Therefore, I need a function that will look up what type of transaction it is (column A) and return the amount in column B. All I can find are functions that look up and return the same amount. Thanks in advance if you have any advice on what to do.

It really sounds as though a Vlookup could benefit , but it would also help to see some type of visual.
