Hi,

I am using Excel 2007 and winXP.

I am interested in having a "heat map" using a geographical map. Meaning, I have information for different countries (numerical values, lets say China is 5 and India is 10). I want to plot it on a geographical map such that the country on the map appears with a color corresponding to a heat map, with lets say light-red for lower numbers and brighter red for higher ones.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Excel Facts

VLOOKUP to Left?
Use =VLOOKUP(A2,CHOOSE({1,2},$Z$1:$Z$99,$Y$1:$Y$99),2,False) to lookup Y values to left of Z values.
I remember a version of Excel that would do mapping somewhere in the distant past...Excel 95, I think?? But I am not sure you want to use Excel for this, or whether Excel still has the capability. I don't hink it does

You may want to investigate an actual mapping software. My personal favorite is MapInfo. MapInfo will allow you to import Excel worksheets into the program then do some basic database queries to match up geography with the data. From there it's a simple thematic map to display differences in geography, whether it's temperature, population or any other data set.

gl!
