Hi,

Is there a way to search a range for a particular value and if that value exists to return a "1" and if not a "0". I guess it's sorta like a VLOOKUP but in a VLOOKUP if the value does not exist it returns a "#N/A"

OR

if the above is not possible, is it possible to reference a cell that reads "#N/A". For instance can I write something like IF(A1="#N/A",1,0)? I tried to but it returns another "#N/A".

Thanks a bunch.

Excel Facts

Convert text numbers to real numbers
Select a column containing text numbers. Press Alt+D E F to quickly convert text to numbers. Faster than "Convert to Number"
try something like:

=if(isna(vlookup(a1,datarange,1,0),0,vlookup(a1,datarange,1,0))

this test the vlookup's for N/A and if found returns a 0
