I have an IF formula in Column C that references Columns A and B depending on the value in Column A. Column A contains a formula that references another worksheet. The Column A formula pulls a value, but it returns "" if the cell referenced is empty. That purpose is to show the cell as empty or no value.
My question relates to Column C. The IF formula in Column C states that if the Column A is blank (i.e. ""), then pull the value in Column B. However, since the formula in Column A returns "" (even though you don't see a value) in certain instances, the If formula returns a value in Column A. How do you get around this?
My current formula for cell C1:
This formula will always return the value in Column A.

=IF(A1="",B1,A1)
This formula will always return the value in Column A.
