Protecting links to shared drives

We have a workbook which resides on a shared drive. Unless you have the password you cannot update the workbook. The problem occurs when someone makes a change to the workbook and saves the file. The link associated with the row that is updated will change from the full path name to ../xyz.doc where xyz.doc is the balance of the path that is different from the workbook's path. Is there a way to prevent this from occurring? When the workbook is copied down to the local drive, the links become inoperable. Any suggestions?

Using Function Arguments with nested formulas
If writing INDEX in Func. Arguments, type MATCH(. Use the mouse to click inside MATCH in the formula bar. Dialog switches to MATCH.
I have found the answer to the question. In the macro code include the line:

Application.DefaultWebOptions.UpdateLinksOnSave = False
