This is a strange error that seems to be affecting one on my colleagues, but no one else.
We all share access to an excel file on the shared drive (a team calendar).
Whenever he opens the file, it opens in Read Only mode. I have confirmed that this does not happen to anyone else, and that no one else is in the spreadsheet at the same time.
I checked the file properties, and Read Only is not checked.

He is currently running Windows 10, and Excel 2016

Any thoughts/suggestions ?

Excel Facts

Why are there 1,048,576 rows in Excel?
The Excel team increased the size of the grid in 2007. There are 2^20 rows and 2^14 columns for a total of 17 billion cells.
Maybe a write/full access to the network folder/files problem?

Ok, fixed. According to IT he was registered as a user in the master file
