There are times when I have a number in a cell, say, 1, and when I drag down I want it to increment. At other times I want it to stay the same. How does one differentiate?

One of my challenges is with a certain code I use for work. I want the number 003. To put this in I have to type '003. Now when I drag this I'd like it to stay the same but it keeps increasing. How to fix that?

Excel Facts

What is the last column in Excel?
Excel columns run from A to Z, AA to AZ, AAA to XFD. The last column is XFD.
Now when I drag this I'd like it to stay the same but it keeps increasing.
Press the Ctrl key while dragging.
