Referencing a cell with a formula in it that returns text

Hi excel friends!
I have a formula in A1 that contains a vlookup function to return text. Later on in this fun workbook I want to reference that text as the criteria in an IF formula, however, it doesn't appear that my if formula is recognizing this text because of the function beneath it.

Is this true? If so, how can I fix this? I am tied to having the vlookup function return text.

EDIT: I found an unnecessary space and solved my problem. Thanks for the support anyway!
