Remove items from a pivot table field

Is there a quicker way of removing items from a pivot table field than clicking them off one by one, with the mouse, from the drop down list?

you can remove the tick from (show all) that will take them out all at once

That depends on your version of excel - I believe only excel 2002 and after have that feature
