Hi,

This is my list of data lets say on sheet 1. On Sheet 2 I want to see all the names, then the corresponding oldest date from sheet 1. (Im looking for the oldest item by person)

On Sheet 2 the column headings should be:

Name, Created, Last (modified), Next (modified), Item #
Book1
ABCDE
1CreatedLastNextNumber
2fred1/1/20041/5/20041/15/20041

How can this formula be altered so the names do not change order based on the oldest. As in, if I wanted the name list alphabetized then populated with the corresponding data for oldest create date?

You want the result area sorted on Name, right?

If so, did you take notice of my comment: "Note that the unique name list is not alphabetized. Although a different method is available for sorting this list, that method would cause futher slow down"?

Excel Facts

Create a Pivot Table on a Map
If your data has zip codes, postal codes, or city names, select the data and use Insert, 3D Map. (Found to right of chart icons).
It doesnt have to be alphabetized, but I was hoping to sort them by location based on the names. For instance let's say Tom & fred are in one location, Bill is in one location, etc.

My data source usually has about 1500, and its not giving me too much trouble when running it.

by the way...THANKS for your help!

You're welcome.

If I'm not mistaken the sample we used doesn't have location as field.

The original example didnt have a location field. It really doesnt need one, but would it be possible to reference the list of names pull the information?

Oldest create date for:

Tim
Bill

Frank etc.

If possible, I would like the results from sheet one to be displayed like this:
Book1
ABCDE
1CreatedLastNextNumber
2Bill
3Fred
4
5Tom
6Paul
7
8Jim
Sheet2

(All cells with " " are blank when I copied the example)
