How can I round up the result of a formula to it's nearest 0.5?, and where am I going wrong with:

=MROUND(A1,0.5) where A1=1.46

Thanks in advance

I'd like the results to be:

1.46 to equal 1.5
7.09 to equal 7.5
15.65 to equal 16
78.78 to equal 79 etc

i.e. rounding the results UP to either the next .5 or whole number

That works perfectly Brian, thanks.

Going back to my original question though, why can't I use MROUND? Or, to put it another way, What does MROUND do?

MROUND rounds to the nearest multiple (it rounds up and down).

But you want to round up to a multiple which is different.

For example:
7.09 with MROUND would round to 7 because it is closer to 7 than it is to 7.5

Thanks Hotpepper. I went back to the Excel Helpfile AGAIN...the reason it wouldn't work for me was that I didn't have the Analysis Toolpack loaded. The results as you describe are what I expected.

Thanks for everyones help.
