Hello,

I am using excel 2010 and I am making a scatter plot of the elevation of a course. My scatter data is selected as follows :

Distance from start (X axis)-:--0---5---23---150---217--...
Elevation (Y axis)-----------:--3---3---10---28----15--...

I want to do 2 things to add to the visual of the plot :

1 ) I want to highlight with a light colour a particular region of the X axis. Let's say from distance 23 to 150 the course goes under a tunnel. I want to highlight a band of all the Y range and X ranging from 23 to 150 and possibly add overlay text saying TUNNEL. It would be preferable if the highlighted region is tied to the corresponding cells and the text tied to the highlighted region.

2 ) I want to add text boxes pointing to particular points of the scatter data. Let's say the 217m mark is point C. I want a POINT C text box pointing to the corresponding point (ideally tied to it) with an arrow.

For the purpose, I've added these rows :

Punctual identification------:-----------------------C---...
Ranged identification--------:-------------TUNNEL-------...
Distance from start (X axis)-:--0---5---23---150---217--...
Elevation (Y axis)-----------:--3---3---10---28----15--...

I've posted this thread on another forum and will update the other thread with the proper solution.

Thanks in advance.

Will the fill handle fill 1, 2, 3?
Yes! Type 1 in a cell. Hold down Ctrl while you drag the fill handle.
