I have a spreadsheet of building data,how can I create a VB script to check column A, which contains floor number (0,1,2,3...), and when the floor number changes insert two rows put a border around it insert text "Total" and then total column B for that floor and go to the next floor number. At he very bottom of the list I need another total for the entire building. I'm afraid I am new to this stuff and don't know any VB.

Welcome to the board.

This sounds mildly complicated, but then again it may be easier to uderstand if you could break it down into smaller chunks for us. (i.e. lots of short sentences instead of one long sentence. :) )

I am with you up until:

contains floor number (0,1,2,3...), ....
then the description of what you want becomes a bit rushed.

How does the floor number change? Does someone change the value in a cell? do you mean that the list of numbers is like this:

0
0
0
0
1
1
1
1
1
1
1
1
2
2
2
2

and where 0 changes to 1 this is considered a change?

I hope this helps to get you closer to receiving a solution.

Mark,

This is exactley what I mean, the problem I have is that the data is published to my clients as a report and I have to manually search for the change in floor number and then re-format to show totals for each floor etc.
