Secure a row when trigger cell is populated.

I have a variety of spreadsheets I would like to apply this to so specifics are difficult.

What I'm trying to write is a method to take all of the information in a row, change any formulas in the cells to hard data, then protect the whole row when a certain cell is populated.

The trigger cell changes from spreadsheet to spreadsheet, but for example, if I type in data in cell G1 I want all the cells in row 1 to change upon closing the spreadsheet from formulas to hard numbers then be locked to avoid accidental changes by other users.

I have failed miserably in my efforts.
