I want to use VBA in Excel to have a dialog box to open. Ideally, a windows file explorer would open and the user would find the path and file to select. I want Excel to only take the file name and path and store it in variables. From there I would like to be able to extract cells from that user selected file. Is this even possible?

What is the last column in Excel?
Excel columns run from A to Z, AA to AZ, AAA to XFD. The last column is XFD.
Hi,

Yes, it should be possible.

Here is a way to call up the file dialog:

Code:
Sub GetFile()

    With Application.FileDialog(msoFileDialogOpen)
        .AllowMultiSelect = False
        .Show
        Debug.Print .SelectedItems(1)
    End With

End Sub

The filename is written out to the Immediate window in this example but you could open the file and process it as well.
