Hi there

I have an employees name in C1 (Joe Bloggs), how can I seperate them into two cells?

For example

A1 - First Name (Joe)
B1 - Sunrame (Bloggs)

Not sure if this can be done.

Thanks in advance

Excel Facts

Which lookup functions find a value equal or greater than the lookup value?
MATCH uses -1 to find larger value (lookup table must be sorted ZA). XLOOKUP uses 1 to find values greater and does not need to be sorted.

Use Text to Columns (under the Data menu) using the Space as your Delimiter.

One more thing, do I have to repeat the same 'text to column' procedure for everyone employee on my list, surely not?

With "Text To Columns", you can do a whole, single column at a time.
So if all your names are in one column, just highlight the whole column first, then do the Text to Columns steps.
If they are in multiple columns, you will need to do each column individually.

Just make sure that you do not have data in the next column, it will replace it. You may need to add a column to account for this.
