Hello!

I am looking for a way to capture the current user ID in sharepoint and use it as a filter/slicer in excel to show stats for a dashboard. Is there a way of doing this?

Excel Facts

Ambidextrous Undo
Undo last command with Ctrl+Z or Alt+Backspace. If you use the Undo icon in the QAT, open the drop-down arrow to undo up to 100 steps.
So, there MAY be a path here with the USERNAME() function -- something like this: Excel extras: PowerPivot

But... I think it is more likely you will do some sharepoint stuff. You can use a web part to capture the user name, then send that into an Excel Viewer Web Part, which is connected to a workbook that has exposed a slicer as a parameter. The tricky part is that excel is going to expect the slicer param to be in juuuuust the right format, and certainly not a simple username. Oh, and you would have to already have a slicer of all potential usernames...

So, there ARE options, they just are super easy.

If you are using analysis services in tabular mode instead of powerpivot, its a better and more secure story.
