Hi there, a simple problem.

If I have the following:
A X
B XX
C XXX
D XXXX

Which formula do I use to change this into the following:
A XXXX
B XXX
C XX
D X

Regards,
Ond.

If Excel says you have links but you can't find them, go to Formulas, Name Manager. Look for old links to dead workbooks & delete.

Unclear what you are trying to accomplish with all this. If the string in A1 is always the same,

=mid(a1,1,1) will pick off the first place character.

knowing that, you can concat as many instances of this as you like, thus:

=mid(a1,1,1)&mid(a1,1,1) and so forth

What are you trying to do?

Hi there.

I'm sorry, I didn't specify my problem well enough. Let my try again. I have the following:

The only thing I want to do is to reverse the order of things that are written in the columns.

As you can see the order in column C is the reverse order of things written in column A (but I wrote it "by hand"). Is there a formula for doing such a thing?

Kind regards again,
Ond.

If that is all you want to do.

I'd put numbers,
1,2,3 etch (and past down) in an adjacent column.

Hightlight the 2 columns, and sort ascending or descending as desired.
