I have a spreadsheet with thousands of rows of data each with a UK postcodes... e.g. PA19 1UW. I want to create another column showing the first 2 characters of the post code only, e.g. PA

I am sure there is a formula to do his but I just can't work it out.

Thanks

Need 1 part of a formula to always point to the same range? use $ signs: $V$2:$Z$99 will always point to V2:Z99, even after copying

Welcome to the board!

Hope this helps

Edit: Copy B1, select B2, scroll down to the last row with postal numbers, hold down Shift and select the last cell in Column B. This should select all cells in Column B you want to fill. Then right-click on that selection and paste.
