Hello,
I work in xls 30hrs> week now & cannot figure the following. I work relatively large (~10K-20K lines X ~40 Columns). My Problem: about half the time, my worksheet will take >2mins to do something as simple as deleting a column or applying a new text color. What can I do?

Hello and welcome to The Board.
Yes, Excel will recalculate when you do something with 'columns'.
You could set calculation to 'manual' but be careful - have a look at the possible unwanted side-effects described in:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/214395
Also have a look at the 'FastExcel' site where you will find some good advice regarding calculation speed etc.
http://www.decisionmodels.com/
In particular look at 'volatile functions' that will recalculation everytime, regardless of changes made.
