Hi, This new teaching job that I have is dragging me (kicking and screaming to be sure) into using 2007. (Whenever I think of 2007 I think of the Seinfield episode where Kramer refuses to put on the ribbon).

Two basic questions that will help me a long way.
1) How do you hide columns?
2) How do you "get into" the macro editor.

Thanks a lot to all,

Gene Klein

How to fill five years of quarters?
Type 1Q-2023 in a cell. Grab the fill handle and drag down or right. After 4Q-2023, Excel will jump to 1Q-2024. Dash can be any character.
Hi Gene

With regard to columns - just click the column's letter - in the grey bit right at the top of the column - to select the whole column, then right-click, and use the "Hide" option.
If you wish to hide more than one at a time, select them all at once, and repeat the above.

For the macro editor - use alt+F11.
Another (more permanent) way is to click the "Office" button (very top left of the workbook), select "Excel Options" (bottom right) then towards the top of the Popular Commands page you can check the "Show developer tab in the Ribbon" checkbox. Then when you want some VBA access - many of the VBA basic access functions are in that tab.

another way to access the editor is to hold your cursor over the worksheet page tab, right click and choose "view code"

If you know where things are in 2003 and want to find them in 2007 then this may be some use
http://office.microsoft.com/asstvid...149329&vwidth=1044&vheight=788&app=ZXL&ver=12

Hover over the 2003 item (you may have to click first to get the the menu item - eg Format|Row|Hide) to see a description of where it is in 2007. Actually click on the 2003 item and it will show you how to navigate to the the 2007 equivalent.

This is VERY nice. Thanks for posting this.
