Strange sum question

I have a total. And I have 85 data points. Some sum of the 85 points equals the total. I dont know how many of the points are used to make the sum...any ideas? I thought Solver might be able to do it, but I havent used it so long. an example is below.

sum=16

the only combination of numbers would be 9+7.
but the population is 85...and it involves more then 2 of the numbers, but not all.

Welcome to the board.

If column A is your values (7,5,9,6,24, etc.), set D1 = SUMPRODUCT(A1:A85,B1:B85)

Then, configure your solver model so you set D1 to a value of 16 by changing B1:B85 with the constraint that B1:B85 are binary.
