Dear Excelers,

1. Any way to make "Subtotal" dynamic? i.e., having done a subtotal, if I add another row is it possible for it to continue subtotaling down without having to do a subtotal recalculation for new entries?

2. Separate and distinct from the above: is it possible to shade only the row in which the subtotal appears ... perhaps using condtional formatting?

Thanks,

Rocky

for the 2nd use the column where the total description is placed and put in the conditional format
=ISNUMBER(SEARCH("total",$A1))

change the cell reference to match your area
