SUMIF Formula question

I am trying to look in column B for any date greater than 9/30/16 and sum the corresponding cell (in Column C) in that same row if the date is greater than 9/30/16...Can anyone help me?

Try this:

=SUMIF(B:B,">9/30/2016",C:C)

=SUMIF(B:B,">9/30/2016",C:C)

Yes that worked, however if I am using the following formula

=SUMIF(B:B,">A1",C:C), where A1 has the date 9/30/16 it doesn't work, do you happen to know why it wouldn't?

Try =SUMIF(B:B,">"&A1,C:C)
