Sumif to display text instead of number

Hi,

I'm trying to get text to display based on evaluating numbers.

I'm trying to use the sumif function to do the following. Look at 5 digit number in column A, see if it matches a number in column B, if so instead of display the sum of numbers, I want it to display the text that is in the cell adjacent to the matched number.

Any ideas. I'm sure sumif is not the right route, but is there "displayif" type of function?

Welcome to the board...

I believe that would be VLOOKUP

=VLOOKUP(A1,C1:D100,2,FALSE)

that finds a match for A1 in C1:C100, and returns the corresponding value from D1:D100
