SUMIF

I have a data layout like below

File Amounts per Fee Earner.xls
	A	B	C	D
1	Total	TransactionType	HeldFiles
2	AdamFreeman(S&PFE-BRD)	3	Sale	0
3	AdamFreeman(S&PFE-BRD)	7	Purchase	0
Sheet1

What i would like to do is work out the cumulative figure for each person (they can appear more than once) from column B

Can i use SUMIF, or SUMPRODUCT (i have never used sumproduct)

are you wanting to count the transaction types for each purchase?

Happens often enough, usually when it looks like your post is not moving to the forum because of a slow / delayed connection so you click "Submit" again - done it myself a couple of times when connection in Bangkok slows to a crawl that's how I know.
