I am making a manufacturing quote sheet with steels specs, weights, lengths, bought sizes, cost and final cost. My problem, I have created a dropdown list of all the steels

eg:
2 X 1 X 1/8W
2" SQ X 1/8W
2" SQ X 8 GA
1/2 SCH 40
76A X 5 1/2
3/8 X 1 1/4
1/4 X 6
I.D Plate
1/8 X 6
Kennedy
LVL
1738
TNT 40197
TNT 44298
1/4 X 20

and if I select fr4om the dropdown 2 X 1 X 1/8W I want 3 other fields to show default values.

I have got the list setup in Column D and I have Weight in Column G, Bought Size in H and Cost in L

I want to select a value in D and then vales G,H,L show up after secting value from column D

Thanks in advance!

I think I got everything the way I want it now thanks to all of your help!

Now in Columns K,N I have code
=IF(H14=0,PRODUCT(I14,J14),PRODUCT(H14,I14,J14)) how can I lock this code in place?

The reason I ask is if I manualy enter a value in these columns the code disappears. I don't want this to happen.

What to do?

Thanks Nathan

Why can't spreadsheets drive cars? They crash too often!
Highlight the cells you want to be locked. Right-click > Format Cells > Protection - make sure the "Locked" box is checked.
Then go to your menu bar and choose Tools > Protection > Protect Sheet - A password is optional

Conversely, other cells that you still want to be available for change need to be formatted so that the "Locked" box is un-checked.

I tried your way but I was unable to get it to work properly.

If I do what you say and I enter a value into column K it still deletes the code.

Not sure of what to do plz d/l http://ncpcomp.dyndns.org/excel/quote.xls

and see what you can do.

I want to lock the code in column K so if I manualy enter a value in the column it will not delete the code.

Plz email it back to me at ncampanella@cogeco.ca

thanks
