I have cells containing dates and initials (3/5/09 jd).
I need to remove the space and initials.

Please advise...thanks!!

You can teach Excel a new custom list. Type the list in cells, File, Options, Advanced, Edit Custom Lists, Import, OK
How about:

=left(a1,len(a1)-3)

Or if it is the same initials or just a couple you could use find and repalce to find the space and initials and repalce with nothing.

Hi, assuming the initials may vary and the position of the space due to the length of the date part, try this

=LEFT(A1,FIND(" ",A1)-1)
