Hi All;

I am trying to link the title of the chart to another cell with a formula.

I have done this successfully before but now it wont let me access the formula bar as per the screenshot. The formula bar is greyed out.

I have tried starting from a new workbook, importing in a new text box.

How do I resolve this?

Excel Facts

Which came first: VisiCalc or Lotus 1-2-3?
Dan Bricklin and Bob Frankston debuted VisiCalc in 1979 as a Visible Calculator. Lotus 1-2-3 debuted in the early 1980's, from Mitch Kapor.
@C_M2840 I have run into this problem as well - specifically with box and whisker plots.
Tried working around it by inserting a text box into the chart area, but that was unavailable also. Annoying...
Best I've come up with is creating a text box in spreadsheet area (from shapes menu), linking that shape to a cell reference (using formula bar), dragging it over the chart (in the the place for a chart title), then selecting both text box and chart and grouping the two objects. Ugly solution but best I could come up with.
