Unable to stop selecting ONLY at the BOTTOM of the page

Not quite the same problem as "pokey" answers. Moving my mouse at the bottom of the page ONLY, will select more cells automatically and it's a challenge to stop selection. I have already tried to to off the Extend option but this has no effect. Problem occurs only at the bottom of a page. How can I stop selecting cells beyond my actual cell choice.

Excel Facts

Format cells as time
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+2 to format cells as time. (Shift 2 is the @ sign).
