Using COUNTA to count only visible cells

Is there a way to use counta to count only the visible cells in a spreadsheet?

Try using the AGGREGATE function. =AGGREGATE(3,5,(counta range goes here))

AGGREGATE is an "under-promo" function in Excel 2010. I like it so much since I found it.

Hi jray,

If you're using 2007 or later you can use the additional COUNTA argument that was introduced with the SUBTOTAL function, i.e.:

=SUBTOTAL(103,A2:A5)

Just change the range to suit.
