Using the Data Validation List

Is there a way in using the Data Validation List, a default value show up?

I suppose you could pre-fill it with an event. E.g.

Code:
Private Sub Worksheet_Activate()
    Range("C1") = 1
End Sub

Where C1 houses your DV.
