Seems with the macro recorder on, you cant do the following:
INSERT>PICTURE>ORGANIZATION CHART

Nor does it seem you can change an Organization Chart while the macro record is running.

Either:
1) I'm slipping and should go back to Pac Man
2) Microsoft did a half-azz implementation
3) Microsoft intentionally chose NOT to expose the chart maker to VBA.

Please, although option 1 would just about fit in any scenario, hopefully in this, it is user error and Billy Gates is still the greatest of greats.

I'm using 2003. Thanks.

How can you automate Excel?
Press Alt+F11 from Windows Excel to open the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) editor.

I would have to agree on that one. I tried it with 2002 and the first time I told me I had to select a shape first (whatever that meant). If I added an orgchart, deleted it, then ran the macro recorder and tried to insert an orgchart again, nothing happened at all.

I was able to get the macro recorder to record changes I made to text in the chart; the only thing is it didn't specify *where* the changes were being made other than "orgchart1" (that is, it didn't specify which box of the chart I was changing, etc.). The entire orgchart seems to be considered as a single shape.
