# #VALUE! error requiring an appendage

##### Board Regular

I have a formula that works which is this =IF(H19-F19,(H19-F19)>14,"") but periodically in cell H19 the word “open” appears which stuffs up the cell that has the formula, the result I get is #VALUE! Does anybody know how to add an appendage to the formula so when “open” appears in cell H19 it substitutes “today()” into the agreement.

Regards, Peter

### Excel Facts

Return population for a City
If you have a list of cities in A2:A100, use Data, Geography. Then =A2.Population and copy down.
Additionally, the way I'm trying to amend it, it would look something like this =IF(H19-F19,(H19-F19)>14,""), IF(H19="open",(SUBSTITUTE(open,"open",TODAY())-F19,(SUBSTITUTE(open,"open",TODAY()-F19)>14,"")))

Any help is gratefully accepted

Hi,

If i understood correctly maybe this

=IF(H19<>"Open", IF(H19-F19,(H19-F19)>14,""), IF(Today()-F19,(Today()-F19)>14,""))
