Hi to all. After searching for several days to find an answer I would like to post a question in this forum. I am searching to find the way to find a file based on characters in the filename. For example: In active workbook cel C6 I would manually fill in the name of the file I am looking for . The filename is 15_10_abc_11_x_5_721. When this file is found, there has to bel filled in the value "1" in cel G6. What happens is that this filename+extention is converted to abc_11_x_5_721_2012_10_15 into the folder X. Becouse the format has changed I should search for the characters from cel C6 and compaire them with the filenames in to folder X. Composing the right code for this is way out of my knowledge. Thats why I really would appricate some help from a expert for this problem. There are several threads for this subject but no one is answerking my case...

What do {} around a formula in the formula bar mean?
{Formula} means the formula was entered using Ctrl+Shift+Enter signifying an old-style array formula.
Hy guys. Can anybody send me some idea's how to resolve this question? Some expert advise is required for this issue. Many post refers to find characters which are known, but CEL C6 is a cel where there are no constant characters. The characters will be different. Basicly like posted before, when those characters are found I am pretty shure the file is found. With COUNTIF would be great too becouse then I would see if there are double filenames. Please let me know if this question could be answered on this site, otherwise I would like to move this question to other sites trying to get a solution. Kind regards to everyone who already read this thread. Hoping to hear some advise..
