VBA How can I make this work for the active sheet Excel 2003

This works
MsgBox Sheet1.Range("L1")

But I want to get what is in L1 in the active sheet, something like below, but this does not work, how would this be done

sn = ActiveSheet.CodeName
MsgBox sn.Range("L1")
