Very simple problem - scrollbar calibrated for maximum lines, rather than data set

I've only got about 1000 lines of data, but when I try to scroll, the scrolling happens relative to all one million lines. I HAVE tried deleting all the cells below my data to make sure there were no errant lines, but the problem remains. It is frustrating because I have difficulty dragging the scroll bar down to, say, line 750, because it jumps to far, and arrowing down that far takes forever.
