It's complicated.
I have a client who uses Primavera (P3) project management software. They have exported some data into a .dbf file (because this version of P3 can only export to WK1 and DBF file extensions. Excel and Access are both truncating the data in the first field. If I look at it with a DBF viewer/converter I get the same issue. Open Office is having the same issue.
I opened the file in Notepad. Lo and behold, the information IS there. However, the data is not usable.
If I try to import/open the text file:
Access is seeing it as one enormous row, and says it exceeds the limit.
Excel gives me the text converter wizard, however, I get various issues that all seem to point toward the data in notepad being all mashed together and unusable.
Am I missing something obvious? Or am I attempting the impossible??
