What is a way to convert data to static and make PQ import faster?

I have PowerQuery importing data from several external folders and the updating is really slow.

Here's the issue:
The data might change for data that's less than 4 weeks old. Earlier stuff won't change, but PQ re-imports EVERYTHING all over again--all 30 weeks' worth of data.

What might be a process for importing just the previous week and refreshing the previous 3 weeks?

Excel Facts

Enter current date or time
Ctrl+: enters current time. Ctrl+; enters current date. Use Ctrl+: Ctrl+; Enter for current date & time.
Good news. Power BI has a new feature that supports selective importing. Power query - not yet. But it is probably only a few weeks away.

I have a blog due on Tuesday on this topic.

Matt, where's this blogpost of yours? I'm approaching crisis mode with an import that just gets slower and slower with each week.
