Why can't I group multiple years in my pivot table? I want to group years 1980-1995 and 1995 -2005. I tried doing a manual grouping, but it just keeps bringing up the automatic grouping. Then I tried changing all the years to numbers and do a number grouping, but it still treated it as years. Help me!

I don't know about pivot tables, but, I tried a standard, smple chart, in which I used years as my x-values and a straight 1, 2. 3, ... series as my y-values. Only, I entered my years as text, by prefixing each year with a simple quote. Perhaps this approach will work for a pivot table?
