Hi,
We are experiencing intermittent transport errors when connecting to a SSAS cube from pivot tables within excel. I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this and has a solution.

Details:
Excel 2010, SP1 Version 14.0.6112.5000
MS SQL Server 2008 R2, SSAS version 10.50.1600.1

Connection String:
Provider=MSOLAP.4;Integrated Security=SSPI;Persist Security Info=True;Initial Catalog=Support Cube;Data Source=NZAKLSQL03;MDX Compatibility=1;Safety Options=2;MDX Missing Member Mode=Error

We can create pivot tables within excel and connect the cube successfully selecting dimensions and measures.
However sometimes when certain measures or dimensions are selected we get a transport error. This may even occur from just switching a dimension from rows to columns.
It also appears to happen more frequently to people accessing via VPN remotely which leads me to believe it is some sort of excel connection issue.

A trace on SSAS reveals no queries being executed or attempted connections at the time of error.

The 2 errors we have encountered are:
- Data could not be retrieved from the external data source ...... An error was encountered in the transport layer.
- A PivotTable, cube function or slicer using connection "X" has failed to refresh. Continue to refresh all?

Thanks in advance.
