Hi,

I need a vba code to be able to extract a text before dot "."
for example:
AAA.xls becomes AAA

Thank u in advance.

Excel Facts

Return population for a City
If you have a list of cities in A2:A100, use Data, Geography. Then =A2.Population and copy down.
One way of many options

Code:
Sub text_dot()
sText_Source = "AAA.xls"
sText = Split(sText_Source, ".")
MsgBox sText(0)
End Sub

if you are referring to a filename:

Code:
msgbox createobject("scripting.filesystemobject").getfile("G:\OF\example.xlsx").getbasename
