In Excel 2007, I am trying to add the Timer Control which I have available to me in VB 8. When I choose the option to add Additional Controls, a long list of Controls pops up which I can add, none of which I need. How can I make a control available to add as an additional control to add to my toolbox in Excel?

I believe you can add the file (.dll, .oce, .exe, etc) that contains it to the References list in the VBA editor. Alt-F11 | Tools | References
