Hi, I'm looking for the best formula to achieve the required result.

I've made a simple mock up. What I want is a formula in D11 to find the highest score of handicappers 18 and under. Then in D12 the highest score of handicappers 19+. If possible if there are more than one winner in each category, I'd like a return of zero or "".

Many thanks.

Maybe if I broke it down in stages?

I need to find the highest score in Column E from the players with handicaps of 18 and under. So maybe Max coupled with IF?

Then, add up how many of the highest scores there are.

If there's just 1, then you have the winner, otherwise nobody wins.

Excel Facts

Will the fill handle fill 1, 2, 3?
Yes! Type 1 in a cell. Hold down Ctrl while you drag the fill handle.
I understand what you are trying to do & that is what the formula I supplied should do. There is no point trying a different formula as that may hit the same problems you are already getting & then we're back to square one.

Okay, I just don't know how to send you the workbook. I'm sorry it's causing you so much time.

You can upload the workbook to a share site such as Onedrive, googledrive mark for sharing & then post the link you are given to the thread.

Both columns C & D just have zeros & col E is completely blank. Hence it doesn't work.

?????

Column C on the Masters worksheet is full of handicaps, Column E is full of formula.

Yes it's full of formulae, but every single one of them returns "". Therefore you have no scores to determine a winner.
