Best, secure way to store Excel worksheet for collaboration

I use Excel 97-2003 to maintain a membership roster on my home computer. I want to share the worksheet with another member to serve as back-up when I'm away. I'm considering using Google Drive for this purpose.

Is there a better, more secure way without having to download special software?
