OK, hello people
I have an issue with workbook encryption. I get the "Excel cannot open this file. The encryption type used is not available, contact the author of the file. More encryption types are available using the High Encryption Pack." error message when I try to open it.
An odd thing is: back when the file was last saved, I remember using an encryption strength of over 128 bits.
When the workbook was created, the computer was as follows:
* Vista Home Premium
* Office XP Pro (SP3)
* Some form of CAPICOM SDK (can't remember exactly)
* VS.NET 2005
Then Vista crashed.
So my setup now, is as follows:
* XP Pro
* Office XP Pro (SP3)
* Every version of CAPICOM executable I could find.
* .NET Framework 3.0
And I get the above error.
However, I've tried VirtualBox-ing a time-limited version of vista and popping OfficeXP back on, to see if it was a type of encryption specific to vista... no banana.
If I hex-edit the file, I can see a unicode string of "Microsoft Enhanced RSA and AES Cryptographic Provider" on the file header.
I would post it up here and see if anyone can open it... but it contains bank account details.
I hope someone has some idea of what's going on.
Thanks in advance
Alex
